A great analogy! I use camera metaphors to understand my writing, too

Great comments, Ian. And so “true”. I think emotional truth is different from factually correct information. My brother is interested in finding exact information about our ancestors, through researching family trees, as far back as to the Norman conquerers! I’m a storyteller, like you.

and camera angles to get the best “shot” so then do I in my writing … using emphases and ”colour” to get the best impression or snapshot of a treasured moment in time.

Doesn’t any writer?

I can only tell my stories as I recall them. Whether or not the stories are “true” is not the question. Someone once told me, “You never let the truth get in the way of a good story.” Whether that is true is debatable, though I do admit to employing an editorial licence in my recalls. The only questions are whether what I tell is my fable, my truth, and thus exposes my way of thinking for my descendants … the REAL me.
