WAVERLEY WRITERS OF FOWL REPORT to FOWL (Friends of Waverley Library) COMMITTEE, September 2017

Waverley Writers of FOWL held its 28th meeting on the 3rd Sunday of September from 2-4 pm in the Theory Room in Waverley Library. Including one new member, there were 7 people present at this meeting, which Anne Skyvington convened.

Six participants each presented a piece of writing to this feedback session. We heard five novel excerpts and one extract from a biography/memoir. Once again, there was a lot to critique and to discuss. Everybody had sufficient time to fully participate, including the member who did not present her own work.

Before the feedback session began, we discussed how we could assist one of our very talented members, who is being published by Ginnindera, to launch her book. Maureen has decided that she wants to launch The Rock at Waverley Library, which is a great plan. Because Maureen is a FOWL member, she will not have to pay for room hire. We have also been told that our group could support her application to Waverley Library by volunteering to assist at the event. This idea was supported by the group and we are keenly waiting to be given a firm date.

Waverley Writers is also pleased to note that one of our members has submitted a second piece of writing to FOWL Deeds, hoping for publication. We are anticipating that more members will consider contributing to the Waverley Library quarterly newsletter.

Our next meeting will occur on Sunday the 15th of October, from 2-4pm in the Theory Room in Waverley Library.

We’ are looking forward to seeing you there.

Regards

Susan Beinart (Liaison), Waverley Writers of FOWL
