WAVERLEY WRITERS OF FOWL – 12th REPORT to FOWL COMMITTEE, FEBRUARY, 2016

Waverley Writers of FOWL held its 12th meeting on the third Sunday of February, from 2-4 pm in the Theory Room in Waverley Library. There were 7 attendees at this first meeting for 2016.

During this successful occasion, six of us read a piece of writing and received helpful feedback. One member did not wish to read, but participated fully by giving feedback. Five of the pieces read were largely fictional, and there was a poem as well.

Because there were no new members, we reminded the group to re-join FOWL.

We will keep on doing this during the year.

We also had a great discussion about the narrative arc in writing. All of our members, especially those who are writing fiction, found this very useful indeed.

One of our members, Maureen, has agreed to help us co-ordinate. She is replacing Dina, who has left co-ordinating duties, but is still an active member of the group. So now we are back to three. A huge-thank you to Dina for her hard work during 2015.

For practical reasons, we have decided to stop providing tea, coffee and biscuits after sessions. Instead, we will go out for a coffee, if so desired.

Our next meeting will be on Sunday the 20th of March, in the Theory Room at Waverley library, from 2-4pm.

Regards

Susan Beinart (Liaison, Waverley Writers of FOWL)
