WAVERLEY WRITERS OF FOWL REPORT to FOWL  (Friends of Waverley Library) COMMITTEE, May 2017

Waverley Writers of FOWL held its 24th meeting on the 3rd Sunday of May from 2-4 pm in the Theory Room in Waverley Library. There were 8 attendees at this meeting, which Anne Skyvington convened.

We were not able to meet in April, because the Easter weekend fell on the third Sunday of the month, and the library was closed.

Each attendee at our May meeting contributed a piece of writing to this feedback session. There were several excerpts from novels-in-progress and some short pieces of memoir and other fiction. In addition, one of our members shared the synopsis of her novel with us. It was a thought-provoking exercise, during which many interesting comments and suggestions were made.

Once again, the May meeting was a successful and enjoyable experience.

I am also pleased to note that Waverley Writers are becoming more involved In FOWL activities. Since the recently retired editor of FOWL Deeds asked us to contribute to future editions, two members have submitted pieces to this quarterly newsletter. One piece has been published and the other one accepted for publication. Literary reviews and reports on local creative activities of 250 words or less are particularly desirable. We will be delighted if more members become interested in submitting something along these lines to FOWL Deeds.

Waverley Writers members also assisted at the latest FOWL book sale, which took place at the end of April.

Our next meeting will occur on Sunday the 18th of June, from 2-4pm in the Theory Room in Waverley Library.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there.

Regards

Susan Beinart
Liaison, Waverley Writers of FOWL
